Here's what came out:

I've written you so many poems
I've sang you love songs
But you may never know
The feelings I feel for you

I smile, I'm happy, whenever you're near
A mention of my name sets my soul ablaze
You surround yourself with people
How I wish you wouldn't

You say the gap's too far
You say you'd rather not
I say it's neither too far
Nor too futile
