So, this is just to share my thoughts with you, the audience. I'm sure that I missed some things in it... if you have any questions about the story, then ask it here!
CHARACTERS/ PEOPLE:
Ashley Mott- Ashley is based off someone I know who is sort of “preppy” in high school terms. When I think about preppy people, the name Ashley instantly comes to mind. I blame the TV show “Recess” with the Ashleys. Her last name came from looking up a list of last names.
Captain Redfield- Just before I started writing this, I picked up “Resident Evil” and there’s a character in it named Chris Redfield. So I took the last name.
Kaiden- He was only mentioned in the beginning and later killed off when the attack happened. His name comes from a character in the video game “Mass Effect”
Sergeant Peter Howards- Random name.
Private Joel Lust- I decided on the name Joel when I first came up with the character, I don’t know why. The name Lust came from a book about Herbs (he was the author).
Kyle Green- Kid in my Psychics class who didn’t know my name until two days before the class ended, so I didn’t care if he was a zombie or not…
Jordan- Another real person, he acts like a big shot and almost didn’t graduate this year. I personally think I captured his personality well.
Mr. Merrill- He was my Psychics teacher, a little spacey, but a good teacher (in my opinion)
Neil Redfield- although his last name isn’t said in this story, he does have one. There is no particular reason for naming him Neil, it just happened that way. Redfield will be explained in my next story.
Ryan- This was Ashley’s boy friend in the past. The girl Ashley is based off dated a boy named Ryan. That’s pretty simple…
Dr. Kelley- Okay, try to follow this. I really like Star Trek and Dr. McCoy is my favorite character so I wanted to somehow make the Doctor’s name a reference to him. McCoy was played by DeForest Kelley in the Original Series. So I took the last name!
Engineer Clark- Another briefly mentioned character; I put him in there because in the video game “Dead Space” you play as Engineer Isaac Clark. I wanted to put some form of shout out to him in this story
Kelsey- This is Joel’s younger sister. The name came from the girl I based Ashley off of.
Yargnam- anagram for GERMANY. Why Germany? Just ‘cause.
Wargnam- “Warg” means wolf in I think some form of Norse, which the Wereesh are described as wolves…
Lewis- no reason behind the name. Special agent against the Grantuun cult.
Mann, Stevens, Jones- Lewis’s men, no reason behind the names.
Grantuun- the leader of The Grantuun cult, creator of the Wereesh. Got his powers during the Destruction of Earth in 2209 due to the radiation from the Nuclear War.
Bill Holly (Unused)- he was originally going to be a big part of the story, but was cut. He is able to see in the 4th dimension (time) much like the Tralfamadorians in the book “Slaughterhouse Five” where Bill is named after the main character, Billy Pilgrim. His personality was going to be depressed because he already knew what was going to happen in his life. His fighting ability was going to be weak, but since he can see what is going to happen, he would be able to kick ass. He was cut after I watched Firefly and Serenity.
LOCATIONS:
UPDS Guardian- The ship that’s captained by Redfield. “Guardian” is from the game “Dead Space” and it’s a type of Necromorph that’s a real butthead.
Wolfeboro NH- The town I went to school in. The Wolfeboro Inn is a real place in the town.
Kingswood Regional High School- where I went to school.
The Fourth Planet of the Omega System- where Joel is originally from. I was thinking of a name and came up with Omega. Although I think it’s overused, I used it anyways. It’s called “The Fourth Planet of the Omega System” because in Star Wars Episode V the Rebel Base is located on “The Sixth Planet of the Hoth System.” I don’t remember if it is sixth or not though.
Velo- this planet was colonized by Traceurs, people who practice parkour, and this was going to have more of an impact on the story in the original idea.
OGANIZATIONS/ RACES:
UPD- United Planetary Defense, I wanted something that would show that some Races had banded together and help each other defend if needed. So, they’re United, and their primary mission is Planetary Defense. There you go.
The Grantuun- The alien race that took Ashley from her time to the future. Your guess is as good as mine on how I came up with the name.
Sofeetons- alien race that was once at war with humans, not anymore. Name comes from the word “Sofa”
Wereesh- Werewolves are aliens. They wear goggles that block out light, much like Riddick. They’re eyes are better adjusted to the darkness. They aren’t very advanced in technology since they pretty much use magic.
TECHNOLOGY:
The Computers- Another thing inspired by “Dead Space”; in the game, your inventory, video logs, text logs, and various other things appear in a hologram provided by your RIG (fancy suit you wear). I added a “Holo-Pad” for typing. It’s an arm band for convince.
