When you write, do you prefer your settings and locations to be fictional, or solid, realworld locales? I honestly prefer fictional settings, from city to fastfood establishments. I feel like creating a town from the ground up gives me a better work space, and people who aren't familiar with the realworld setting won't feel excluded when reading my story.

Depends on the story... for Infected Shorts I sometimes make up new places, but other times I keep real places and not say it. Like in the Infected Short "Meeting New People", that place is the trails at Devil's Den. I like that so that people can have something to relate it to. But i do like to create new places that are usually based off fictional places in movies or video games or whatever. But I think I enjoy real places more. Creating something fictional in a familiar place is fun to do

I find real settings work better, if only I can focus more on description and less on the creation of a new world. Sometimes that isn't possible, but I do my best.
